Certificate vs file
The LMS says 100%. You download a PDF. Compliance is happy. The client still has no cut, no titles, no deck. That is a certificate.
A file is the thing the job needed. If it does not exist, the training did not happen. The PDF is a receipt for sitting through slides.
Certificate
- Hours logged
- Quiz clicked
- Name on a template
- Valid for the audit
File
- Someone can open it
- It matches the brief
- It can be wrong, then fixed
- It unlocks the next day
What a certificate is good for
Proof you attended. Safeguarding. A module the insurer wants. Keep it in HR. Do not confuse it with skill.
Where it breaks
Managers sign off “trained on CapCut” because the course completed. Monday there is still no export. CPD hours went up. Output did not.
Side by side
| Certificate | File | |
|---|---|---|
| Audience | HR / auditor | Client / team |
| Date | Course end | Day you exported |
| Fail state | Rare | The cut is bad. You redo it. |
| SkillxTube | Not the goal | Deposit proof |
Do this tonight
Write the file the certificate is supposed to stand in for.
If you cannot name it, the module taught attendance.
Put the file next to the PDF. Only one of them ships work.
Common mistake
Buying another licence because last year’s certificates expired. The skill expired when the last file did.
